Using the Book of Mormon to combat falsehoods in organic evolution

Prior to 1830, science and religion were essentially in agreement. Design and order in the universe were considered evidence for a Supreme Being, each species was considered to have been created separately, and Biblical age for the earth was accepted by science. Though evolution is never mentioned in the scriptures, President Benson has said that the Book of Mormon would give us the power to combat falsehoods in organic evolution. This book is meant to be used as a guide for the reader to determine the truth by applying the principles that are found in the scriptures.
