Prudence Crandall

First published in 1955, this acclaimed novel tells the true story of a young Quaker teacher named Prudence Crandall. In 1855, Crandall opened a school for African-American women in Connecticut, creating a firestorm. Accused of defying God, Crandall is subjected to imprisonment. But she wouldn't yield her belief that we are all equal in the eyes of God.
