Photo & Digital Imaging

Photo & Digital Imaging is designed for use as a first course in the basics of photography, including the application of photographic principles to the growing field of digital imaging. The text provides a solid knowledge base for the student, covering the essential tools and techniques of photography. Emphasis is on black-and-white photography to permit concentration on basic skill development, but color techniques and processes are also included. Photo & Digital Imaging covers the extension of photographic principles into the digital realm with chapters that blend theory and practice. One chapter is devoted to capturing and storing digital images, including both digital camera use and the conversion of conventional photographs to digital form by scanning. Another chapter covers the use of image-editing software and the digital darkroom , with practical examples of techniques for correcting, enhancing, and creatively manipulating images.
