Kakaako As We Knew It

Kakaako was once a poor residential neighborhood, but it was rich in the spirit of the people who lived there. Members of multi-ethnic groups formed a tightly knit community that few could penetrate. This book recalls the camaraderie, carefree lifestyle, and sharing of cultures that existed in the Kakaako of old. Former residents share their memories with longing and nostalgia to recapture their fun-filled days of outdoor recreation, music, cultural activities, and the feeling of ohana that permeated the district.
