Green, Gold, and Proud is a collection of portraits, candid snapshots, short essays, and testimonials that celebrates the character and spirit shared by all Green Bay Packers fans. Photographer Curt Knoke was sent on a year-long mission to create a photo documentary that represents these extraordinary enthusiast. Knoke traveled the Packers home state in search of interesting stories and collections of memorabilia photographing dozens of fans in their native environments. On game days he roamed the Lambeau lots and surrounding neighborhoods immersed in tailgating culture, randomly recruiting his subjects. His game-day studio at section 109 of Lambeau Field was the backdrop for thousands of fan portraits. For Knoke, the process of editing photos to accommodate a 168-page book proved to be one of the most challenging of his career. Every subject was perfect. Every portrait told a story. Green, Gold, and Proud gives us a glimpse at the spirit of a Green Bay Packers fan. It tells the story of a community and extended family. It s a photo album that represents the millions of people from all walks of life from all parts of the globe who come together to share a common interest.
