Remembering the World War II Sacrifice: Dad's Letters

This is a story of a World War II veteran, Edgar J. Houglum, who grew up on a farm in Minnesota. He served in France, Germany, and Austria and earned a Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart before being wounded a second time and nearly dying as the last casualty of his unit at the war's end.

Using letters written to Edgar Houglum and by him during World War II, the book tells of this era in their own words and couples the dates of these letters with specific battlefield information from other sources for a behind-the-lines view of WWII. It is a blend of history with a human interest story as it tells of the sacrifice made by soldiers and families and how the war changed their lives; a sacrifice that must be remembered.
