Reshaping Mathematics for Understanding (RMU): Measurement

In Measurement, as students explore the properties of geometric measurement (length, area, volume, and angle measurement), they learn the procedures for measuring objects. Students use concepts and skills from many areas of mathematics, such as number and operations, geometry, graphing, and proportional reasoning. RMU is designed to help middle-grades students gain a deeper understanding of important mathematics topics. Each unit features topics developed through problem solving; concepts developed over time; problems that invite communication among students leading to critical thinking; problems that help students make connections among topics; and labs for more intense study. Each unit includes teacher notes, blackline student masters, and suggested assessments. Use RMU as the basis for a curriculum program or to complement your current program.
