Description
THE SULTAN'S DAUGHTER by R.J. McMahon is a story that takes place on the highest levels of diplomacy extending from the Oval Office to State dinners in the White House and Embassies as the U.S. negotiates a mutual defense treaty with a small Islamic country in the Middle East. The purpose of the mutual defense treaty is to provide an IBM missile launching base in the area as a deterrent to aggression in the volatile area of the Middle East. The love lives of four people, a Princess, a U.S. Army officer, a Prince, and the daughter of the publisher of Washington's leading daily newspaper are affected by the acceptance or rejection of the missile treaty. During the course of negotiation, the Sultan, the President, as well as Cabinet members and Ambassadors, become closely involved in the resolution of the love of the four people of diverse interests and backgrounds. It is a love story but one that is timely because of our lengthy involvement in the geopolitics of the Middle East with Muslim countries, which is essentially the latest continuation of The Crusades, the centuries old religious war that seems to have no resolution acceptable by all participants.
