Promises...

After suffering the loss of their infant daughter, Patrick and Jennifer Randall become isolated from one another in their individual reactions. He is energized by his anger at the unfairness of life. She is sucked into an abyss of paralyzing despair. When attempts to alleviate Jennifer's pain are unsuccessful, her doctor suggests a change of scenery. Patrick takes the suggestion to extreme and quits his job, packs all their worldly goods into a u-haul, and transports his wife from their comfortable, middle class existence in California, to pursue a future on the other side of the continent in New England, hoping to restore her spirit in the process. Through a series of mishaps along the way, Patrick and his money are parted and the estranged couple find themselves homeless. Marriage is a mutual promise of enduring love, for better or worse. Faced with the worst, would love be enough for Patrick and Jennifer each to live up to their side of the promise?
