Dr. Rhinehart, a Pennsylvania native, attended Juniata College and The University of Maryland School of Medicine, and completed his Internal Medicine Residency training at East Tennessee State University, serving as chief resident in his final year of training. He currently serves as the Diabetologist and Medical Director at the Johnston Memorial Diabetes Care Center in Abingdon, VA. Dr. Rhinehart has been awarded recognition from the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Diabetes Physician Recognition program for providing high quality care to individuals with diabetes since 2002. To receive recognition, Dr. Rhinehart submitted data demonstrating performance that meets the ADA and NCQA program's key diabetes care measures. These measures include eye exams, blood pressure control, glucose control, cholesterol management, and other qualitative measures. Dr. Rhinehart is also a member of the Professional Section of the American Diabetes Association and the Virginia Diabetes Council and frequently lectures to patients and providers regarding diabetes and its related conditions.
