666 The Mark of Pastiche

When sherm head Max Pollitt gets mistaken in a bar for a man that a sawn-off racketeer lent sixty-thousand dollars to in order to pay off accumulated gambling debts a couple of years back, it pitches him headlong into a crazy, shadowy and mysterious world of doppelgangers, time slips, parallel universes and quantum theory. Add to the mix the fact that because of his drug addiction, Max is more than likely an insane schizophrenic and we have an immensely amusing and surreal adventure of his off the wall attempts to raise this amount of money and more within ten days - or else! Of course there has to be a little romantic ingredient included along the way and this is ably provided for by both Gena and Martha - although at times it seems our anti-hero has difficulty in deciding as to just which one his affections belong. Written in the teasing style of parody this entertainingly bizarre story rattles along like an express train until at last it hits the end-of-the-line buffers in an unexpected and extraordinarily disturbing, supernatural, encore evoking finale.
