Pick Up the Broken Pieces

Brandi Weston avoids painful memories of her abusive father, runaway sister, and mother lost to cancer. Fleeing her brutal pimp in Kansas City, she climbs in a basement window and secretly lives in a closet under the stairs. There she eavesdrops on a ladies’ church meeting. Lyndi, a former drug addict and prostitute, tells about broken pieces of a song that led her to Christ. Prostitutes don’t go to heaven, or so Brandi thought. A struggle for the truth and the song “Pick Up the Broken Pieces” ultimately led her to Jesus. Six-year-old Mary Beth discovers Brandi and, after some tension, the family accepts her and drives her to Beaumont, Texas. She falls in love with the preacher’s son, but will her tainted past threaten their future and her church fellowship? Woven into the story is the author’s own uplifting breast cancer experience.
