Set in the distant future in a space station made of junk, an artificial octopus named Frank has conversations about evolution with Suzie, a surrogate lizard. Tai and Flip, two philosophical androids, embark on a journey to find the ends of the Earth, eventually going back into the past where they meet Glerph. Glerph is an advanced robot who invented himself in an effort to end all suffering. Gyroscope is based on chapters of the Jewish Kabbalah. The book forms a mystical blueprint covering the themes of mechanical evolution, conversations between the biological and the mechanical, and the final fate of humanity.
