Lambs of the Reich: The Children of Nazi Germany

J. Thumann Molnar was inspired to write Lambs of the Reich, her first novel, based on her father s childhood experiences in Nazi Germany. Although the story and characters are purely fictional, many actual events in the story are true. Revealing the daily struggles of one German family as their country is caught up in political upheavals followed by a global Depression, it shows how the country fell willingly into Hitler s trap. Dazzled by his charisma, Germans initially embraced the leader who promised real solutions for a country still reeling from the first war, and for a time, Hitler gave them hope for a new, proud Germany. However, the fears of being part Jewish, having an uncle in the Nazi SS, and mandatory attendance in the Hitler Youth as WWII begins make for many adventures in the lives of a boy named Max and his brother Friedrich.
