Description

There is currently available no single similar book in the English language that contains anything close to the combination of useful, readily applicable and accessible information on the dog and cat to be found in this very unique, high quality text. The book covers a large segment of the whole spectrum of subjects typically found in the first year of most veterinary curricula and sometimes even goes well beyond. This includes normal gross anatomy, clinical anatomy, physiology, histology, developmental anatomy, and in some instances even molecular subjects. All of this is done using a combination of a well written text, a well-organized table of contents, an extensive index, with the particularly clinically important information always occurring in blue background panels. For the "real" students out there or those of us who once were, each chapter has a selection of questions and answers to test your knowledge and to accentuate important points. A good general bibliography is included with each chapter. The text of the book is very well done and has many outstanding features, but the hallmark of this book is the extremely well done, plentiful and easily followed color images. Navigation through the book is greatly facilitated by the features listed above. Actually not only the reader, but even the casual "looker" will find this book extremely beneficial and fascinating. The images in the book are original and extremely well done in color. Information is organized and summarized where appropriate into very well done tables. Images sometimes down to the molecular level are well utilized and compliment very well the clinically applicable components of the book. This is definitely a book too sweet to believe, and deserves to be consumed and not just tasted. However a taste will have to suffice.
