Description
The action of this daytime soap opera is set just before today - when DOS and slower-than-snails modems ruled, and weekends were long and sybaritic; when Friday night meant singles bars, and Sunday night, singles at the church; when the high days of sexual frisson would segue into the plague and its sexual terror. In the course of nine mini-seasons, narrator Judy confesses to and discloses the high jinxes and desperations that have led to the way we live now.
Judy offers, in conversations with her psychoanalyst and with her friends, full but treacherous disclosure. This darkly humorous sitcom of Boomer manners should be required reading for an understanding of the generation that realized and betrayed the sexual revolution; the generation that, ever at war with itself, fashioned a world of perpetual war. The unforgettable characters in this novel will strike a chord with those who know and love members of the Boomer generation.
Fred Korn, born in New York and educated in the Midwest, has lived for many years in Florida, Illinois, Idaho, Ontario, and Italy. A retired educator, he has published poetry and prose in a variety of journals. He has also exhibited his photographs in galleries on both coasts as well as in the Midwest. After decades of research in the field, he lives near Lake Champlain in a small community of dairy farmers, cows, sheep, and alpacas.
