A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man

James Joyce’s early 20th century novel, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, is a fictionalized autobiography of the celebrated Irish writer. The life of the novel’s protagonist, Stephen Dedalus, offers readers insight into the events and beliefs which shaped Joyce himself.
