One Last Look

There was a very thin book shoved in between two thick dictionaries...The amount of dust across the shelf from it was considerably thinner than all the other books..I traced my finger along the binding and pulled it slowly from the shelf. The thing was pretty much a regular notebook, accept the pages were made of thick paper, and it had no lines. I opened the front cover and looked at the page. Three words were elegantly inscribed in small print at the bottom. 'Diary' 'Thomas Homme' After moving to Minnesota Emma Miller thinks that the worst of her problems are going to be trying to fit into a new school, and trying to get along with her new family life. Little did she know that when she began reading the journal of the house's previous owner that she and her step-brother Parker would be taken into a different world. Forced to leave their family behind they are brought deeper and deeper into the lives of a hidden group of fictional characters, that Emma previously didn't believe in, that has been fighting one another for centuries. And in the end Emma's decision comes down to this; does she choose to remain alive, or does she sacrifice herself to save the people she loves?
