Seventh grade is hard enough without losing my best friend, Lily, to makeup, cheerleading, new friends, and boys. What starts out as a normal, boring day at school ends in a four-wheeler wreck in front of a mirror in the woods. Who knew that a mirror in the junk pile would give me much-needed control over my life as well as Lily's? It took one mixed-up reflection to learn that, sometimes, what is on the other side of the glass could be deceiving, and trying to make sense of it all could be dangerous. Becoming a teenager is hard enough for most girls when life is going smoothly. With everything changing around them, it is especially hard to be the late bloomer. In The Mirror in the Woods, author Jodie Keeling writes about the distance that comes between two best friends, Kelly and Lily, based on those growing pains and how Kelly's supernatural glimpse into the life of Lily helps put it all into perspective. The mirror in the story represents the crystal ball that every young girl dreams of having that would make life much easier to deal with. The question for Kelly is, how far is she willing to go to see the other side?
