In 1946, Elizabeth married Alfred Mangassarian and in the same year, they migrated to Armenia. After two years, Alfred was arrested and sentenced to seven years imprisonment, and Elizabeth, with her four months old son Andranik, were arrested and exiled to Siberia where she was forced to work in a Siberian forest cutting trees in freezing conditions of down to minus forty-five degrees. After Stalin's death, Khrushchev became the next Soviet leader, who reformed the entire Soviet government rules and also released all political prisoners to their freedom.
