Psycho–geographer, sociologist and historian Tom Vague once
said you can tell instantly if someone was really in the know,
“when it comes to fanzines, if they mention Sniffin’ Glue you
know they’re talking from the outside, if they cite Ripped &
Torn.... you know they were really there.'
Ripped & Torn was one of the first punk fanzines, and continued long after others like Sniffing Glue had stopped. It began in Glasgow in November 1976 and carried on into the next wave of punk. The fanzine ran for eighteen issues, all of which are faithfully reproduced in this book.
By punks and for punks, Ripped & Torn is a fascinating document of the punk subculture and a sacred text of DIY culture.
