Containing the proceedings of the 2013 International Conference on Human Health and Medical Engineering (HHME 2013), held in Wuhan, China, this 2-volume set presents new research results and demonstrates new systems and techniques in the broad field of human health and medical engineering. It brings together the work of researchers and developers from around the world to share state-of-art results, to explore new areas of research and development, and to discuss emerging issues facing human health and medical engineering. The papers in the book are organized into four sections. Clinical Medicine (40 papers) covers such topics as imaging and modeling and other computational techniques, biochemistry associated with various ailments, treatment effects, cancer, infection, the cardiovascular system. Modern Medicine and pharmacy (49 papers) covers the biochemistry and effects of various therapeutic agents, both natural and pharmacologic. Preclinical Medicine (36 papers) considers the mechanisms and processes involved in various ailments, including cancer. Public Health (45 papers) examines various effects on public health, from chemical emergencies and other pollution and contamination to the effects of exercise.
