This is a mantra which plays in my mind. This is miles from the voice that I heard in 2003 that said, "You will have a horrible year". The next year was horrible. A benign lump turned into breast cancer. I found peace after remembering that I had surrendered all that I had to God just two months before my diagnosis. In the Bible, the first section of John 15 became truth for me as I realized I had been pruned and my old life was gone. This realization came while walking in my garden soon after my mastectomy. More of John 15 became real as I prayed for God to let me love people. This prayer and three others were answered during my "horrible year". My new life as a breast cancer survivor is full with new relationships and opportunities. So no, as the scars begin to fade, I don't want to forget all the blessings of my horrible year.
