Computer Modelling of Seas and Coastal Regions II

The pollution and general degradation of coastal areas, together with related environmental problems, are now of major international concern and further study is needed in order to create effective countermeasures. Moreover, the design and construction of developments such as harbours and marinas require an accurate knowledge of sea climate, especially where extreme conditions exist.

Computer models, in combination with remote sensing and experimental sampling techniques, now provide an efficient tool for the analysis of coastal systems. Featuring state-of-the-art research, this book contains papers presented at the Fourth International Conference on Computer Modelling of Seas and Coastal Regions, held in May 1999.

The contributions come from scientists from many different countries, and span a multitude of topics and techniques in such areas as estuarine problems, shallow water models, siltation and dredging, tidal simulation, wave studies, pollution studies and coastal erosion.

Selected papers from a related meeting on the planning, design and operation of marinas are also included.
