Sustained-release Opioids in Special Populations (New Directions in Chronic Pain Series)

Chronic pain of malignant origin has traditionally been managed with sustained-release opioids, and the use of these agents in the management of chronic pain of non-malignant origin has grown in recent years. However, little useful information is available to guide the use of opioids in chronic pain occurring in special populations such as the different sexes, the elderly and different ethnic groups. This book provides a brief overview of the information available on the use of opioids analgesics in these special populations.
