This book contains up-to-date information on more than 30,000 volunteer and paid positions in over 50 countries all over the world. Most of this book consists of individual entries for specific employers and agencies that are able to offer full-time work overseas: the information in these entries has been supplied by the organizations themselves, and is included at their request. Entries covering opportunities in a number of countries are in the Worldwide chapter at the beginning of the book; others are listed in the relevant country chapter. At the start of each geographical section there are some general notes on employment prospects and regulations on work permits, entry visas etc. Fact-filled job descriptions including length of employment, available openings, salary, application procedures and requirements, and contact information. Where there are few opportunities for paid employment - in, for example, developing countries - given are details of voluntary organizations willing to accept unskilled workers for short periods of time. Even in those countries where paid employment is available, voluntary work has a number of advantages. Hours of work are likely to be shorter. Leaving more time for recreational and cultural activities, which are generally regarded to be an integral part of work camp life. In most cases, volunteers are drawn from a number of countries, so that contact is made not only with local residents, but also with young people from all over the world.
