How do jobs change when new technology is introduced? Is there a typical form of work reorganisation along the lines of reskilling or deskilling of employees? Who decides and who influences work organisation and design when new technology is introduced? How are new technology jobs allocated? what issues are raised for trade unions? This study tackles these and other questions. Based on research in six companies using different forms of new technology, the book sets out to establish what the actual changes in jobs are, who decides, who influences these changes and what the repercussions of change are.
