The Sport of Schutzhund

This award-winning, stunningly crafted, soft cover, coffee table size photographic essay is the first and only photographic book that comprehensively depicts all phases of this popular working dog sport, including training, competitions, dogs at play and with their families, dog portraits and puppies. It features over 370 full color, large format photographs from 26 photographers. The purpose of this book is to introduce the sport to those who are unfamiliar with it and to honor Schutzhund dogs and their passionate trainers and handlers. We chose to create this book because dry prose summaries describing Schutzhund training do not capture its beauty, the bond between handlers and their dogs, nor the hard work, challenges and rewards of the sport. Inside are photographs and concise text that show what participants and observers will typically see in the sport. Schutzhund or Dog Sport involves three phases: tracking, obedience and protection work. For over 100 years it has been used to produce healthy, intelligent, strong and talented working dogs worldwide.
