Hardwood Heaven: Basketball in Kentucky 1895-1966

Hardwood Heaven chronicles the great coaches, the great teams and the great players from the state’s rich high school and college basketball history, concentrating principally on the years for which still photography, rather than film or video, was the main imaging medium – an era that begins at the turn of the century and ends in the middle of the 1960s.

This is Kentucky’s Golden Age of basketball, an age that may be of special interest to longtime fans who remember when the game was still a game; when Adolph and Peck and Uncle Ed and Paul strode the sidelines; and when Clem and Cotton, Turner and Tyra, and Westley and Wah Wah played for their dear old alma maters and not much else.
