Loving Care for Alzheimer's Patients: Practical Solutions for Caregivers and their Families

Katie Lovette lived with her grandmother as her full-time caregiver from 1989, when her grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, until March 1999, when her grandmother passed away. Along with her mother, Lenna, and her two sons, Lovette provided love and care to her grandmother for a decade. When she began caring for her grandmother, she found few resources providing practical advice on how to care for another’s personal needs. She wrote Loving Care for Alzheimer’s Patients to help others who are new to caregiving benefit from her experience, to make their time spent with their own patients, better and to ease their worries.

Drawing on her experience, she provides detailed information on how to care for a patient in all stages of the disease. Lovette takes family caregivers on a personal journey from solving day- to-day problems involving a patient’s hygiene to finding the best health care professionals to assist with care.
