📖 Description
The ambush at Frankstown (south of present-day Altoona and west of Hollidaysburg PA) that occurred early Sunday morning June 3, 1781. It involved four principall forces that often met on the Pennsylvania frontier. These were: the Pennsyllvania rangers and militia who were primarily responsible for frontier defense; and Butler's Rangers and their Iroquoian allies, who were responsiblel for implementing British war srategy as it concerned the frontiers.
