The F-84 Thunderjet was one of America's first generations of jet fighters. It had a straight wing design in contrast to the F-86 Sabre and the Russian MiG-15 jet fighter. The F-84 was the most effective ground-attack jet during the Korean War, where it flew over 86,000 close air support missions.
