Neither are tricks magic.

Tricks are tools, props, sleights, often performed for no other reason than to entertain an audience by amazing them and leaving them with the question, "How did he do that?" He explains how, with the proper presentation, tricks can be performed in such a manner as to make them more than "gotcha’s." With proper presentation, the audience will know how the performer did it. "He did it by magic." And, more importantly, they will understand not only how he did it (by magic) but WHY he did it. "He did it because it made sense in the context of his presentation. He did it to enhance our emotional enjoyment of his dramatic performance. That’s WHY he made the magic happen.

This is not a book of magic tricks. It’s rather about magic tricks. It’s about the "magic show" versus the "magic act;" sensation versus perception; objective versus subjective reality; magic for children versus magic for adults; acting versus "being yourself." But most of all, it’s about suggesting a style of presentation which rather than simply arousing the curiosity of the audience, provides them with the feeling they have seen real magic performed by a real magician!
