Illingworth House

"Illingworth House" brings in the main characters of a trilogy. It opens with the birth of John Illingworth, heir to a dynasty. His father, Sir Abe Illingworth, had a loveless marriage, and John is the result. Sir Abe's real love is for his mistress Mary Calow. She supports him loyally at work and World War I, in which Sir Abe is wounded. The next generation also appear and play greater parts as the novels progress. Simon Grimstone, Harry Clemence, John Illingworth, Rosemary Braithwaite, and the mysterious foundling, Helen Greenwood, who grow to maturity, ready for the next two novels.
