In 1820 and 1821 a large contingent of Scots emigrated to the New Lanark Settlement in Upper Canada (Ontario) under the auspices of the British government. These people were awarded land grants in the townships of Dalhousie, Lanark, North Sherborooke and Ramsay in what became Lanark County. This publication is a transcript of the ship's lists of the Glasgow Emigration Society settlers that travelled to Quebec (Lower Canada) for settlement in Upper Canada (Ontario)on four ships in 1821 and does not include those who came to Canada in 1820.
