"You’re such an egg, Mike,” a Chinese friend back in Toronto once told me. “An egg?” “Yeah, an egg. You know, white on the outside, yellow on the inside. It’s like you’re Asian, but you’re white.” Tamago is a collection of short stories about how the author became infatuated with Japan as a little boy watching animated TV shows, and then learned to write and speak Japanese as a teenager, and his personal experiences in the Land of the Rising Sun after the March 11, 2011, earthquake and subsequent tsunami struck Japan.
