The diverse participants in One Kind Word show that Canadian women who have had abortions come from all backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures and ages. Women who have had abortions are our neighbours, sisters, mothers and friends. By sharing women’s stories, this groundbreaking book helps to end the silence surrounding abortion experiences and helps to combat the feelings of fear, shame and isolation that many women face. One Kind Word shifts the focus of the abortion debate to women and their experiences, creating a dialogue about what it means to have reproductive freedom in Canada today.
