📖 Description
Author's story as child survivor of Armenian Genocide of 1915 who was kidnapped by a Kurd during deportation and taken to live in the mountains as a slave. After World War I he managed to escape to Aleppo and contact his father in America. After emigrating in 1920, he worked at first Star Market store then opened his own business. Describes scenes with Stephen P. Mugar,founder of the chain, and Arshile Gorky, famed artist, while he was in Watertown. The second expanded edition includes the author's poems and short stories published in the Armenian press and translated by Hagop Sarkissian and Helene Pilibosian as well as Notes on Part II by Helene Pilibosian.
