Atlas of the Musculoskeletal Examination

One of every seven Americans reports some form of musculoskeletal complaint that limits activity or productivity. Musculoskeletal problems are the leading cause of illness at work and the origin of most temporary and permanent disabilities. Not surprisingly, then, a significant proportion of diagnosis and treatment is rendered by primary care physicians and other nonspecialist healthcare providers. Atlas of the Musculoskeletal Examination provides physicians with the most appropriate tests, concisely explaining what to look for and when to treat. General principles are initially discussed. Subsequent chapters focus on particular body areas: the upper extremities (shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand/fingers), gait and spine, and the lower extremities (hip, knee, ankle, foot/toes).
