A Notebook for Viola Players

This notebook (with accompanying DVD)is intended to give a broad technical overview of the mechanics of viola playing followed by a variety of bowing and left hand exercises. Nothing written here is set in stone. It is not my intention that what is presented is the only correct way of playing, or approaching the instrument. The intention is to provide a series of ideas that I have found to be successful over many years as both a performer and teacher. If, through studying this book, you improve your sound and technique, then I have achieved half my aim. The other half is to make you think about how you play, how you might approach a problem or how you could improve on what you already have.
