Nommo Principle is a West Afrikan concept referencing the "Power of the Spoken Word." The word Nommo derives from the Dogon peoples of Mali, West Afrika. Nommo was a diety of the Dogon pantheon who represented the magical power of the word or speaking. Hip Hop music and culture embodies the "power of the spoken word" as it has come to influence and inform on a diverse number of areas, from the obvious entertainment, to politics and education. The power of the word inherent in Hip Hop can and should be used to influence positive and progressive change throughout the Global Community.
