Rather than return home after World War II, former sergeant Freddie T. Birch revives his ventriloquist act and begins touring Europe as "The Great Freddie." But Freddie's act and his life take a radical turn when he is possessed by the ghost of Avrom Amos, a twelve-year-old Jewish boy killed by the Nazis. Soon the two forge an unlikely partnership, improving Freddie s act while bringing Avrom ever closer to tracking down the man who murdered him.
