Last Call ( A Drunk Becomes Sober)

My name is Denny and I'm an Alcoholic/Addict. I wrote the poems in this book during a one year period. They reflect my thoughts,and feelings, during my first year of sobriety, after almost fourty years of alcohol, and drug abuse. They appear pretty much in the order that they were written. I began writing them in rehab. They follow on through my relocation and immersion into A.A. During my re-entry into society, I experienced going back to college (after 33 years). I currently am an intern at a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center. I am truly becoming the blind leading the blind! Along the way I have experienced meeting the love of my life. Regrettably, she came to hate me! I also saw the birth of my fourth grandchild, Santina. Finally, I suffered the loss of my mom, Santina. Sobriety has brought me pain and sorrow. Nonetheless, it has been the best year of my life. The book is a reflection of the emotional roller coaster, that is recovery.
