or more than half a century the ideas of philosopher/novelist Ayn Rand have been challenging 2,000 years of Western thinking. Rand never systematized her own philosophy; that job was first done by her protégé, Dr. Nathaniel Branden. In 1958, Dr. Branden began a series of 20 lectures on The Basic Principles of Objectivism. Rand herself acknowledged that while her novels created readers, these lectures "created the movement." In 2009 those lectures were made available in book form for the first time by Cobden Press. This companion study guide can be used by individual readers to help guide them on the intellectual journey they will take. It can also be used to guide discussion of the lectures for reading groups.
