Restoring the Art of Storytelling in the Home

A revival in the art of storytelling among mothers swept America in the early 1900's. Story groups were formed to practice and perfect the art. While storytelling has seen a new revival in the last thirty years, it has yet to reach where it can do the most good--the home. Much of the training available is aimed at the professional storyteller or for using stories in business, education or healthcare. Yet, in times past, the art of storytelling yielded its greatest masterpieces by the fireside while the listener was held close to a mother's heart. Two things have been lacking in sparking a new revival: a beginner's guide to using the art at home and simple access to stories that work well for telling. "Restoring the Art of Storytelling in the Home" has been created to fill those needs. Part One introduces you to the power of a story as well as basic guidelines for storytelling and age appropriate stories. Part Two contains over a hundred stories reworked for telling by the gifted storytellers of a hundred years ago. They provide a perfect tutorial for anyone interested in re-learning the art.
