Each of the three books has two parallel stories, one in the present and one in the ancient past. The present time coming-of-age story develops through all three novels. The tale starts simply enough in Las Vegas when a party girl buys a pulsating mirror in an antique mall. With the help of a little mystic meditation, an exotic woman beckons in the mirror. You might say this sounds like yet another looking glass story, but I promise an epic unlike any other.

In the first book, The Red Mirror, a desperate woman leaves the glamorous Las Vegas Strip to step through the mirror back to ancient Egypt just as the Persians are set to invade. She was Isis then, a high-priestess born to an indulgent world soon shattered. When the Persian General holds her life in his thick fingers, she discovers that she'll do anything to survive.

The Emerald Tablet, book two, reveals an awakening modern Isis jet setting through New York, Copenhagen and Tahoe. Her past life plays out in Greek Ptolemaic Egypt on a quest for a magical tablet. In the third book, The Black Scroll, Vegas Isis leads the Protectors in Malta, Libya and London. The black magic of Hadrian's Roman North Africa dominates her past life.

The history is based on known events, while the characters, by and large, are fictional. The mysticism is an intricate blend of ancient beliefs viewed through a modern lens. When you have read each book, you will have smelled the smells and savored the tastes of an ancient world. You will have delved deep into the religion and philosophy, not only of the Egyptians, but also the Greeks and Romans.

The beauty of writing this series was that I got to go back in time. The joy is that I get to share with you a lifetime of travel and study that helped bring the ancient past alive for me. I hope the Red Mirror Series does the same for you.

The Black Scroll (Book Three) - Roman Egypt. Isis is Elektra, a Roman sex slave in ancient Libya who rises to Nile love goddess with help from a Berber sorceress. A daring rescue in militia-torn Libya climaxes with the reincarnating circle facing off in a final London showdown. Includes a glossary of Roman-Egyptian terminology.
