La Fondation Vasarely

The Fondation Vasarely in Aix has recently been re-funded and revitalised. This publication celebrates the institution and the modern master who created it. In 1966 Vasarely, 'the father of Op Art', established his Foundation dedicated to 'art for all' and 'the city of tomorrow'; a transformed environment where art and architecture merge. Today the Foundation's building a remarkable, pristine complex of 16 hexagons is packed with the geometric abstract objects and installations with which Vasarely changed 20th century art, and is an important cultural and educational site. This book exalts the Foundation's renaissance with numerous full page illustrations of Vasarely's work, and texts and quotes that capture his inspirations, importance and legacy.
