The book gives an explanation of the new effects caused by inhomogeneities, and also contains analysis of more basic semiconductor parameters, such as carrier concentration and mobility, in the presence of inhomogeneities. Many different types of semiconductors are covered, including compensated, irradiated and polycrystalline, and the theory is supported by experimental results, rather than extensive, mathematical formulae. This volume considers the presence of inhomogeneities in many types of semiconductors, and the effect these have on various properties, including conductivity, luminescence, and galvanomagnetic effects.
