The Leadership Styles of Six Female American International School Heads: The Professional and Personal Journeys of Six Female American International School Heads

The position of the international school head continues to be gender-stratified executive position in American international schools. Women are not only under-represented as international school heads, but few individual accounts exist regarding their experiences. The purpose of this study was to explore the female international school head's experience by describing her professional and personal journey and her style of leadership. The findings are valuable for both male and female school leaders, stateside and abroad, so that the growing complexities and challenges of an executive school position are reported from a different perspective.
