A Model for Assessing Performance System Risk: An Exploratory Study of the OrganizationalPerformance System (OPS) Instrument as an Identifierof Performance System Risk
Performance systems comprise the equivalent of anorganizational spine that, like human spines, requirealignment without hyper states of rigidity orflexibility. When performance systems are aligned, they foster optimal conditions for effective andefficient organizational performance. Whenperformance systems are misaligned, they harborperformance risk. Performance risk is a conditionfostering potential loss of efficiency and/oreffectiveness that diminishes measurable performanceoutcomes. Performance risk can be identified byassessing the organizational performance system. TheOrganizational Performance System (OPS¿¿) modeldepicts the theory of performance systems and can beused as an instrument guide for assessing performancerisk. This study explores the utility of the OPS¿¿theory and model of performance systems inidentifying performance risk.
